Beach Education

We were so lucky with the weather on Friday and saw some breaks in the cloud and even some sunshine.  There were dolphins just past the breakers when we arrived and the kids had so much fun swimming, creating, learning and playing at the beach.

Christmas Tree

Thank you to Vanessa Dean and Janelle Barnes for donating decorations for our class christmas tree.  As we take down art work and displays and pack up the classroom it is nice to have a bit of cheer to fill the walls.

Swimming Season

It is great to be able to use the school pool again and it is pleasing to see most children are bringing their togs and getting in.  I am a qualified swimming instructor and while it is difficult to run formal lessons from the side of the pool at this age I am trying to include basic skills during our swimming slots.  Children are able to participate at their own level and feel comfortable in the water.

Values and Excellence Awards

Well done Emily for receiving our excellence award this week for fantastic writing.  You have been including wow words, speech and varied sentence structures in your writing - amazing! Well done Bella for showing our school value Respect and looking after your peers and your things, and always being great at tidying up!

Camouflaged Creatures

We have doing some observational drawings in Room 5 and learning about insects and their habitats.  We took a long time drawing these amazing creatures and using textures and shades of colour to camouflage them in their habitats.  I think they are super!!  They are up on view in the office reception at school - be sure to pop in and check them out.

Happy Birthdays!!

We are starting to have quite a few birthdays in Room 5.  Lately Sam, Frances and Jack have all turned 6.  Happy Birthday to you all.

Class Trips

A reminder that next wednesday you may meet us at the cardboard cathedral to listen to the children sing our christmas carols or come to school early (2.30pm) to listen to us singing with the year 2/3's to the seniors.
We are heading to the beach on friday  - please try and borrow a wetsuit for your child if you do not have one already - it helps with cold and buoyancy.  Adults assisting on the trip must get in the water (only waist deep).  You may meet us there if you wish but we do ask that no preschoolers attend as we need to ensure safety of children at all times.
Thank you for your support.
